VARIOUS – TRASHCAN RECORDS VOLUME 6 – STAG-O-LEE 10″ LP

Welcome to the sixth volume of Trashcan Records, a new compilation series on Stag-O-Lee, devoted to obscure and forgotten vinyl treasures from the 1950’s and early 1960’s. This time Fedor has selected another eleven exotic rarities from my record boxes.

On Side A you will find a cool selection of uncomped jungle-themed songs, such as the great Ray McKinley title track (a red hot rockabilly version of this tune might turn up on a future volume), the frantic dancefloor stomper ‘Jungle Love Call’ by Ronnie Savoy, and ‘Ahbudh (Katanga Slide)’ – a unique, one-copy-in-existence acetate that turns out to be a spectacular jungle exotica monster!

Side B will offer up six dreamy exotica tracks with otherworldly vocals and sultry melodies. Highlights include the mesmerizing ‘Sunset Mood’ penned by Les Baxter, an excellent exotic rendition of ‘Summertime’ by turbaned saxophonist Lynn Hope and the haunting ‘Sweet Breeze’ by Vernon Green and The Phantoms, a demented delight that Lux Interior raved about in his Incredibly Strange Music interview!
