The Paramount Four is probably the biggest crossover record of the last ten years. Previously only available on a 100 Club Anniversary single, it has been hunted by collectors across the rare soul world ever since. The B-side features James Carpenter’s rendition of Dave Hamilton’s ‘(Marriage Is Only) A State Of Mind’. This was an unreleased master tape issued on Ace’s first “Detroit Dancers” CD and has yet to earn its full kudos; as it came out on a Northern Soul compilation, it has been largely missed by the modern and funky crowds.
