CHARLES BROOKER / ALBERT WILLIAMS – WALKED ALL NIGHT / RHUMBA CHILLIN’ – JUMPIN’

CHARLES BROOKER ALBERT WILLIAMS

Jumpin’ was a Jamaican label that issued US RnB.  Some of these tracks became hits acrost the islands and many influenced the music being recorded.  These two tracks however were not issued when they were recorded at Sun studios.

Rhumba is a take on John Lee Hooker’s Boogie Chillen’, and Walked All Night is a superb blues stomp. Both  are raggedy, rough and ready and lope along.   You can hear a foreshadowing of the offbeat that will make Jamaican music famous.   Both sides put me in mind of the fab Roscoe Gordon.
