KENNY SMITH – I’M SO LONESOME, BABY / SECRET DATE – TOP-PER 45

Repro’d for the first time this fantastic Four Star Custom press from 1957 is pretty much definitive Rockabilly.  It has great hick vocal, with just a little of the high lonesome sound, shuffling light drumming, subdued bass and a driving guitar.  Absolutely brilliant.  The flip is a country waltz number, not quite a weeper, not quite a honky tanker.  It has lovely lyrics painting the sort the sort of reality that only heartbreak  country can capture.
