MILT TRENIER – SQUEEZE ME / ROCK BOTTOM – RCA

No, that is Claude and Cliff, this Trenier is not one of the twin leaders of the absolutely fantastic pre Rock n Roll rock n Roll group The Tresniers. To make things a little more confusing though Milt is a brother to the twins and did later join the Treniers. I am totally making the assumption everybody know who the Treniers are.  If you don’t do yourself a favour and find out.

So with that all as clear as mud what about this 45?  Dammit but this 1953 double sider is jsut as good as The Treniers.

Squeeze me is reminiscent of Wynonie Harris’s version of Bloodshot Eyes with great vocal and huge big band style jump.  The flip side Rock Bottom has the wildness of the Treniers.  It sounds like any second it could fall over the edge into anarchy as everyone in the studio give it their all but just stays there right on the limit where everything crazy happens.
