These records won't collect themselves...
Rockabilly and country have always had a streak of gothic running through them. Sanford was the king of the style with The Fool, A Cheat, The Man Who Made an Angel Cry etc for Dot records in the 50s and in 1967 on Ramco he returned to style with this bar room tale of lust and death. Another Ramco 45, this one from 1966, provides the flip side of this double sider. The simple walking bass, super guitar picking and Waylon’s fine voice make this a late great Rockabilly number.
