LIGHTNIN’ SLIM / BLUE MAMBAS – MEAN OLD LONESOME TRAIN / ZULU – ROLLIN’

This is what Rollin Records themselves have to say about these tracks. While in the studio recently, we got Wayne Hopkins (bass) and Tony Diavolo (guitar) to add some overdubs onto Lightning Slim’s original 1957 recording. Seems there was no bass and the guitar was mixed really low on the hallowed master! Mixed in by producer Dave Palmer, the tempo was then increased by 10 seconds preserving the key, and dynamics of the track. All ready for the dance floor! The flip was a track recorded back in 2010 during the Keith Turner & The Southern Sound session that produced “Shake Rag Boogie”. A tribute to the styling of the great Link Wray, and one of the greatest composers of all time, John Barry. Musicians are Andy Wren (guitar), Tony Diavolo (guitar), Dollar Bill (drums) and Wayne Hopkins (bass). Best version ever? Yes of course it is!
